Tembo Climate Ltd (“Tembo Climate”) has been setup recently together with Humphrey Mulindi, a veteran in carbon offsets development with more than 14 years experience in the sector.
Tembo Climate can also rely on its exclusive partnership for the African continent with Albo Climate (albosys.com), an Israeli company applying Artificial Intelligence to satellite imagery and hyperspectral radars to map and monitor carbon sequestration.
Net zero goal requires the unlocking of the voluntary carbon market, whose stocks largely sit in the African continent
Apart from TPL’s portfolio representing carbon offsets potential of 0.5 Mln tCo2 eq. a year, TCL is currently developing forestry projects for circa 7 Mln tCo2 eq. a year, as well as cookstoves projects for another 4 Mln tCo2 eq. a year and a series of biochar plants.
TCL’s approach is to use cutting edge, alternative methods to establish carbon sequestration potential, monitoring and registering, and advise African governments in the implementation of their REDD+ initiative.
Tembo Climate aims at realizing carbon offsets transactions in the tune 20 million tCo2 eq. a year by 2024.
